Bio
As I work, I seek to make connections with the world of the spirits. My hope is to make an opening, touch a place that recalls some ancient wisdom, uncover and regain something deep and mysterious.

I use beeswax to create surface textures that draws one into the layers underneath. Each piece is composed of oil glazes on top of transparent wax and collaged elements. The result is deeply textured works with tiers of obscured forms that convey depth. I want them to be objects inviting access to the invisible world.

I let the process take over. This quote from artist Agnes Martin has guided me over the years "If you live by inspiration then you do what come to you". By working intuitively and trusting what comes, the act of creating is very direct and becomes a sort of divination itself. I light a cane when I work. I summon the spirits out of the work. I find them as I create. I begin to know their names.

I am dedicated to "living by inspiration". It is a spiritual process, a creative displine, a journey with doubts and fears, and with revelation and recognition. I strive for freedom. I respect taking risks, and seeing and pointing out the beauty in things passed by unnoticed. There is an order to seeming chaos, a beautiful pattern to deterioration and a raw, sometimes frightening aspect to new life, to birth. There is also a gentleness and a resilience to life itself that can be seen in life forms all around us. These things attract me. They are metaphors to inner mysteries. My work embraces them.
