My recent exhibition is titled ‘Architectural Fiction’. Inspiration stems from artists whose work is architectural in nature and from architects who have created works of art. Specifically, the work of Agnes Martin, Gordon Matta-Clark, Robert Mangold, Piranesi, Jeanne Gang, Frank Gehry and others have provided the impetus to experiment with new encaustic techniques that I have learned.
Architectural elements are prominent in all of my work, past and present. Custom architectural molding, or running trim, has also been an influencing factor in this recent body of work.
Waterloo has exhibited across the United States as well as in England, Italy, Singapore and Spain. She was selected for the exhibition "Art Futura" at the Chicago Cultural Center, curated by James Rondeau of the Chicago Art Institute. Waterloo's encaustic work is in the collection of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and was included in their Biennial. Her work is also in numerous other private and corporate collections.
