Melanee Cooper Gallery has been in business since 1988 and in it's current location in the River North Gallery Art District for the past eight years. The gallery has evolved over the years from representing artists in all mediums to focusing primarily on abstract, figurative, and landscape paintings with a focus on the surface. In addition, displaying artists who also work in mixed media with an emphasis on encaustic paintings. The gallery has specialized in encaustic paintings for the past ten years exhibiting and representing some of the premier encaustic artists in the country.

Owner/Director
Melanee Cooper received her BA from the University of Michigan in 1984. Opening her first gallery at the age of twenty-six, she has exhibited and represented hundreds of contemporary artists, which contribute to her experience and fascination with the surface, texture and process of the artwork. After twenty years in the art business working with collectors, art professionals and artists, the gallery's focus is to educate and provide outstanding personal client service.

Gallery Assistant
Sara Ebers has been with Melanee Cooper Gallery for over a year. She received her BFA in History of Art from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 2007, and graduated with distinction for her Senior Thesis on Eighteenth-Century French landscape painting. Sara spent her last semester in Washington, DC studying at the Phillips Collection, America's First Museum of Modern Art. Along with studying and becoming immersed in modern and contemporary art, she interned with the curatorial department at the museum.
